Application for social roots in Madrid

Obtaining a temporary residence permit in Spain

Social roots is a procedure that allows foreigners who have resided in Spain continuously for a specific period of time to regularize their legal situation and obtain a temporary residence permit. This permit is valid for one year and can be renewed subsequently.

At our office in Madrid, we offer you comprehensive assistance throughout the entire process of applying for social roots.

Requirements for making the request for social roots

1. Continuous residence in Spain

You must have resided in Spain continuously for at least three years. Your absence from Spanish territory cannot exceed 120 days in total within these three years.

2. Social integration test

It is necessary to prove that you have ties to Spanish society. This can be done through a social integration report issued by the City Council where you live, which demonstrates your participation in integration activities such as Spanish courses, voluntary work, etc.

3. Sufficient financial means

You must prove that you have sufficient financial means to support yourself. This can be through a signed employment contract for a minimum period of one year, or through your own financial means or those of a family member.

4. Absence of criminal record

You must not have a criminal record in Spain or in your country of origin during the last five years.

5. Additional documentation

This may include registration, a valid passport, a criminal record certificate from your country of origin, and any other documentation that proves your social and economic ties in Spain.
